Hi, I'm Benz. I'm a new member of VSA Thailand.I'm writing this to share my experience with the training I joined called “VOICE” (Volunteering Opportunities to Improve Cohesion and Empowerment) project that was held on 6 - 17 June 2019 at Bologna City, Italy. The aims of this project were to develop structured innovative actions towards increasing the quality of international volunteering mobility (IVM) and building capacity of the youth organizations actively engaged in transnational learning mobility and to promote IVM as a way to boost youths’ employability potential, foster active European citizenship and feeling as citizens of the world, overcome passivity of younger Europeans and create environment for increasing quality of the IVM supporting organizations. I participated in this project with 2 Thai companies, Petch and P'Koy. Petch is the son of one of the partners in VSA Thailand focusing on Education. P'Koy is host family accepting international volunteers to work at her farm stay. During 2 weeks, We are learned many things regarding International Volunteering through tons of activities they provided. Day 1, started the day with ice-breaking activities to get all participants to know each other as fast as possible. then talked about the expectation for the training through the tree of expectations, contributions, and fears along with the presentation of the training program and training goals. Afternoon part was about ESC and NGO presentation which we did a great job on this. then reflection and assessment of the day. At night, it was the intercultural night where I and my team did an amazing job of presenting Thainess through our presentation and performance. Day 2, it was about ESC: what, how, why along with World cafe activity that was so fun and interesting. After lunch, we headed to Bologna city center to explore the 7 secrets of Bologna. They were incredible. Day 3, It was a free day for all participants. most of the participants went on the trip going to Florence. while Petch and P'Koy went to Venice. BUT NOT ME!! I spent that day at the City of Bologna myself. I went to Mambo Museum and the University of Bologna which is the oldest university in the world. Then I went to the park where I did some sketches laying on the ground. it was a good fine day. Day 4, have learned about Non-formal education introduction through many activities then joined Intercultural learning and Intercultural communication games along with conflict management session. Day 5, still learning about Non-formal education in details but today focused on activities and materials supporting Non-formal education.
Day 6, this day was a long day for me. I and my team were doing OAT or On Arrival Training agenda for 4 days with 6 international volunteers. We had to think of possibility by organizing great activities into a 4-day agenda. and yes!! we did it!! Day 7, this day was tough as well because we had to develop a local workshop for our organization but the outcome was satisfying. Day 8, I got the flu so I didn't join the training that day. Day 9, worked on the OER (Online Educational Research): content development and how to ensure the user-friendly toolkit. then I and most of the participants headed to the train station for Venice trip. So we spent time in Venice for 2 days. Thank you VSA Thailand for giving me such a good experience doing this. I had the unforgettable moments with all participants and myself. See you when I see you Italy. Until next time!! Benz.
