It's Rihards food review : He just bought BBQ meat payed 3000 pesos, which is around 90 cents. In Latvia, he would have to pay 4 euros for the same amount. Bonus point : that it has bread aswell. The meat itself is juicy and is cooked very well "the price performance is easily 8 out of 10". Very good. 🌈🍗

I'd like to share my experience within the European voluntary service, a program that allows young Europeans to work abroad and to face challenges in a really different environment, giving the opportunity to discover their potential and skills within a mobility experience. It all starts after finding out that I have been selected for Colombia! A very strong emotion to receive that e-mail... the departure set for March 1st. The possibility of knowing a new country, learning a new language and therefore also a new way of expressing myself and thinking. Entering the National University of Colombia is something that marks you: an environment full of culture, full of young people with new ideas and with different perspectives from those you are used to. Working for the international relations office gets you in touch with people from all over the world. Furthermore, attending the Spanish course taught by Professor Myriam helps to get even more into the language, an indispensable factor for those approaching such an experience. Language and being heard is a vital tool for integration and a social facilitator to exercise rights. I immediately felt Colombian culture close: friendly people, an explosion of colors and joy around me. Going out to Chapinero, Candelaria, visiting Monserrate was part of a beautiful day spent with the other EVS volunteers, but also a way to confront the Bogotana reality. Unfortunately, the activities had to be interrupted due to the emergency of COVID-19, but the experience, despite the lockdown, continued within the family where I am a guest. I was lucky enough to be hosted within a welcoming family, where I never felt out of place. We cooked desserts, and I had the opportunity to taste Colombian cuisine. Despite the hard time for everyone, I enthusiastically continued this project, and learned a new language. This experience for me was a real eye opener. This project has helped me to understand more about the different struggles, trials and tribulations each of us face in our every day life.
This project was held to breakdown stereotypes, barriers, views and share personal information in a safe environment; it has also motivated me to try and see how this would work in my community. This experience was unexpected and positive in many ways . Day by day I felt I was growing and I felt that I had the chance to learn more skills and information about a new country. This experience is unforgettable for me because being abroad me connect with various people on a deeper level and acquire a wider horizon on certain groups of humanity that goes beyond all prejudices and stereotypes. This project will help me in my further interactions with people from different cultural backgrounds , I will act on promoting these kind of experiences. I will share the knowledge I gained on stereotypes and prejudices, and also share some stories that were helpful to me and ideas which can impact in our local community. After this project i will implement a clearer vision and perspective on my surroundings, and make more friends from people from different cultures. This project was a real challenge and showed me that there is still a lot of things to know and to learn. It was a huge responsibility to go abroad, because you have to make sure that everybody understands you propertly and get those emotions which I want to show. This project teached me to comunicate better, open my mind and be flexible. These skills will be a huge advantage in life, especially when I will have to get out of my comfort zone because this will no longer be a new thing for me . It was unforgetful experience, I met lot of different and wonderful people. Projects like these leave a huge impact not only for you but also on the people around you. I had the best experience and I hope that everyone will also go on an EVS project too . IF I COULD I WOULD PRESS REPLAY BUTTON Monserrate in videos. "Bogota is huge, it has population of 9 million and 2 million of those are refugees from Venezuela and they mostly live on the streets."🌎🌳⛰ #SpreadTheVoice #ErasmusPlus #ColombianLife #Monserrate
One of the best things to experience when you go to a foreign country, is the traditional foods and culture. Here our volunteer Luisa made Colombian traditional food arroz con pollo!
